Mace Green’s David Owens and L&C’s Giles Hoare join Chelsea-based developer and asset manager

The Thackeray Estate has boosted its team with two big-hitters as it gears up to roll out an ambitious expansion strategy.

David Owens (pictured) has joined the Chelsea-based development and asset management firm as Projects Manager, with Giles Hoare coming on board as Portfolio Manager.

Owens has spent the last 20 years in the project management business, most recently at Mace Green, where he was in charge of over 50 redevelopments. Before that, he managed a range of high-end resi and office projects for Property and Building Consultancy, following a successful stint as Head of Capital Projects at City University London.

Currently at London & Cambridge Properties, qualified surveyor Hoare will be making his move in April, having managing a mixed-use portfolio worth more than £80m for the investment firm, which he joined after a number of years at Cushman and Wakefield.

Headed up by Brett Palos, Antony Alberti and Charles Thompson and tracing its roots back to 1963, the Estate owns a portfolio of key sites across the City of London, South and West London and Reading – including 130 retail stores and restaurants, some 200,000 square feet of office space and 75 resi units. We’re told there’s a £100m expansion plan in the offing, involving the acquisition of a number of new assets across London and the South East, with a view to delivering a raft of new mixed-use schemes.

Charles Thompson, Director at The Thackeray Estate: “We are delighted to welcome both David and Giles to The Thackeray Estate. David has a long and strong track record of delivering retail, residential and office developments and is an ideal fit with our business model who will help support us to deliver on our £100m expansion plan. Giles will also be a key member of our management team as The Thackeray Estate continues to ambitiously grow its portfolio of properties over the coming months and years.”

David Owens: “I am thrilled to be joining The Thackeray Estate which is at a very exciting stage in its development. The Thackeray Estate has an excellent track record of regenerating difficult developments, revitalising and preserving buildings with a rich heritage and turning them into places where communities can prosper. I look forward to working with The Thackeray Estate team to support the delivery of the Company’s growth plan.”
